Applicants are invited to apply for the post of Research Assistant in Retinal Cell Biology at UCL Institute of Ophthalmology, ranked the best place in the world to study Ophthalmology (CWUR Rankings by Subject 2017).

This Research Assistant post offers an exciting opportunity to play a key role in research into inherited retinal disease in a highly successful and dynamic research group.

The Research Assistant will work on a project focused on using stem cells to understand the mechanisms of light induced neurodegeneration under the supervision of Dr Rosellina Guarascio.

The position would suit an ambitious graduate with a background and interest in the mechanisms of neurodegeneration, retinal cell biology, and stem cell derived models of disease. The successful candidate would ideally have experience with molecular biology techniques, stem cell culture and/or microscopy. (S)he will work to investigate the role of light in molecular mechanisms of inherited retinal degeneration using stem cells derived 3D retinal organoids.

The position is funded by Moorfield Eye Charity and will be for 18 months.
