Research Assistant in Retinal Cell Biology
The Research Assistant will work as part of a multidisciplinary team on a project to explore the molecular mechanisms of retinal degeneration.
The position would suit an ambitious graduate with a background and interest in the mechanisms of neurodegeneration, genetics, retinal cell biology, or stem cell derived models of disease. The successful candidate would ideally have experience with molecular biology techniques, stem cell culture and/or microscopy. (S)he will work as part of a multidisciplinary team, and with established collaborators, to investigate the molecular mechanisms of inherited retinal degeneration using iPSC derived 3D retinal organoids to explore how structural variants cause retinal degeneration.
The appointed individual will join a collaborative team led by Prof Alison Hardcastle and Prof Mike Cheetham. The position is funded by Foundation Fighting Blindness and will be for 12 months.
